It is in my blood and beyond my control – both of my parents are world travelers and taught me from a young age to see as much of the world as I could. My Grandmother recently asked me why I couldn’t stay still, why I had to be so much like my mother?! I am taking this as a huge compliment :).
I have been really lucky, in the last eight years between starting high school and graduating from university, I have traveled as much as I could.
I have been spoiled at all-inclusives in Costa Rica and Mexico.
…survived solely (I mean solely) on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a month in New Zealand.
…indulged in daily massages in Thailand.
…pushed buses out of mud ruts in Laos, and
jeeps out of sand dunes in Australia.
jeeps out of sand dunes in Australia.
…been a part of some epic sangria fights in Spain,
a couple of which I may have started.
a couple of which I may have started.
…met Sean Connery in The Bahamas.
…had my breath taken away in Cambodia.
…done nothing but lay on the beach for three weeks in Mexico.
…had my patience tested in Vietnam.
I also tested other people’s patience... lol.
I also tested other people’s patience... lol.
…feed my adrenaline addiction in New Zealand.
…danced at the full moon party in Thailand.
…sang Hey Baby at the top of my lungs, while dress in a dirndl in Germany,
a couple of times.
a couple of times.
And I have fallen in love in France.
Okay that one is a lie… but it totally could have happened!
Okay that one is a lie… but it totally could have happened!
So apparently that was just me bragging… but it was really fun to re-live all those memories!
I have never spent more than six weeks in one single country in one trip, or been away from Canada for more than six months. But this time I left freezing cold Calgary on March 6th, 2011, over two weeks ago, with plans to stay in Indonesia through August.
I haven’t done much since then except read my new favorite book Karma! But more on that to come… I have been relaxing in Bali before I head to Timor for a look at more authentic and un-westernized Indonesia.
From what I have seen so far Indonesia is an incredibly beautiful country with amazing food! I have already replaced a pad thai obsession with nasi goreng! I can not wait to explore more of this country.
I will try to make a video blog every week, so come back and check out what I’ve been doing.
